When it comes to beauty and makeup, no one can be perfect and it is important that you keep learning new and safe ways to use makeup. Here are 7 ways you could be applying your makeup wrong.
Make corrections while you can.
#1 Applying Foundation With a Brush
When applying makeup most women rub the foundation by stroking the brush onto the skin. This procedure is very damaging to the skin, especially for dry skin as the brush lifts dead skin cells making the skin look flakey.
Do This Instead: Use a damp sponge or beauty blender and lightly dab it on the face to set the foundation into the skin .
#2 Applying Concealer Before Foundation
Most women cover their blemishes with concealer before applying foundation which isn’t really necessary. Concealer must always be applied after foundation as most of the blemishes are hidden with a good foundation. Dabbing on too much concealer and foundation makes the makeup look too cakey.
Do This Instead: Apply foundation all over your face and blend. Now apply just a tad bit of concealer on visible blemishes. Blend with a damp beauty blender.
#3 Testing Foundation on the Back of the Hand
Testing foundation on the back of the hand is an old and wrong practice. You will never get your shade if you test it like this.
Do This Instead: Take some foundation on your finger or a Q-tip and apply it on your jawline. This will help you get the accurate shade.
#4 Applying Moisturizer in a Descending Motion
Not many women realize this but applying foundation or moisturizer in a descending motion cause premature wrinkles and loss of elasticity in the skin.
Do This Instead: Apply moisturizer in an upward motion, lightly pulling the skin up.
#5 Not Using Eyeshadow Primer
This is an important step that’s often skipped. If you’d like your eye makeup to last longer you should be prepping your eyes with primer.
